This is the most current revision of the Code of Conduct of the Tamaskan Dog Association (TDA), revised July 2024. New members, by their application, agree to abide by and follow the guidelines outlined in the Code of Conduct. Current members, by their annual renewal, reaffirm their agreement to follow the guidelines outlined in the Code of Conduct.

This Code of Conduct is established to protect both the Tamaskan Dog breed as well as the Tamaskan Dog Association Membership. Members recognize that, as individuals, their practices of ownership, breeding, sportsmanship, and ethics directly impact the well-being and sustainability of the breed. While no code can cover every aspect of ideal behavior or attitude, members recognize, by agreeing to these terms, that actions are the truest reflection of personal integrity, principles, and intentions. TDA members are committed to enhancing the Tamaskan Dog breeding community, providing for the community of owners, and upholding the welfare of the breed as their foremost concern.

Article I: Member & Community Relations

  • Members shall treat all other members of the TDA with respect and courtesy – no defamation, name-calling, mud-slinging, or gaslighting will be tolerated.
  • Members shall share knowledge truthfully, constructively, and respectfully when conveying information about breeding programs, members of the larger Tamaskan Dog community, and individual Tamaskan Dogs.
  • Members shall provide up-to-date health and registration information for the TDA website of their dogs and litters.

Article II: Breed & Individual Tamaskan Dog Welfare

  • Members shall keep only as many dogs for which they can provide a high standard of housing, health care, nutrition, attention, affection, and overall care.
  • Members shall provide appropriate training, exercise, and supervision to ensure their dogs are well mannered, kept in safe conditions, and are not abused or neglected.
  • Members shall ensure that in all dog related activities, the dog's welfare takes precedence over considerations or requests of breeders, trainers, owners, organizations, sponsors, and officials.
  • Members shall not allow their dogs to roam at large or unsupervised, nor to become a public nuisance or a public burden.
  • Members should follow all relevant country and state animal welfare laws (i.e. Animal Welfare Act).

Article III: Implementation

Members who are found to be in breach of the Code of Conduct may be subjected to disciplinary action. Depending on the severity of the breach, disciplinary action may consist of official warnings and temporary suspensions. In the case of severe and/or repeated breaches, members will be expelled.
