The Tamaskan Dog Association values your privacy and are committed to ensuring that your personal data is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our services.

Data Controller

The Tamaskan Dog Association is the data controller responsible for processing your personal data. You can contact us at:

Tamaskan Dog Association (t.n.v. Wolfsbane Creations)
Adelaarstraat 20, 3145 AA Maassluis, The Netherlands

What information we collect

In order to provide our services we may collect the following personal information related to you:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email address
  • Country (of residence)
  • IP address

We also process information about dogs, such as their name, sex, date of birth, parents' names and health test results. The GDPR defines 'personal data' as any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. A 'natural person' is a living human being, thus a dog is not a natural person. This means that the GDPR does not apply to data from which you can identify a dog. Under specific circumstances certain data pertaining to a dog might be considered personal data. For example a dog's microchip number that is recorded in a national database along with the owner's contact information (e.g. name, address). If a lost dog is found, a veterinarian or animal shelter can scan the microchip to retrieve the owner's contact details. Any information that the Tamaskan Dog Association collects pertaining dogs is stored in our pedigree breed database without identifiers that link the data to an owner.

Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data for the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy based on the following legal grounds:

  • Consent: In certain instances, we may rely on your explicit consent to process your personal data. By providing your data to us through our website or email, you are consenting to the collection, use, and sharing of your personal information as outlined in this Privacy Policy. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us using the details provided in this Privacy Policy.
  • Legitimate Interest: We may also process your personal data based on our legitimate interests, provided that these interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms. This includes processing data for the purposes of maintaining, updating, and improving our pedigree breed database. Where applicable, we ensure that such legitimate interests are balanced against your privacy rights and are conducted with appropriate safeguards in place to protect your information.

The pedigree breed database is a tool used to track and maintain accurate records of the Tamaskan breed. It is very important to properly document the health, genetics, and breeding of dogs within our breed to help our community identify inheritence patterns, lower the risk of health issues, avoid inbreeding, and improve desirable characteristics (like health, temperament, or physical attributes). The pedigree breed database is a crucial tool for the Tamaskan breed and its community, providing our community with the tools necessary to make informed decisions about breeding, genetic diversity and health.

How we use your data

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Account Management: We use your data to create, manage, and maintain your TDA membership account. This includes authentication, login, and access to your profile and our pedigree breed database.
  • Communication: We may use your email address to respond to inquiries or support requests regarding your Membership, or inform you of important updates such as notifications about changes to the website, security updates, or new features.
  • Legal Compliance: In certain circumstances we may use your data to comply with legal obligations (e.g. taxation authorities).
  • Pedigree Documentation and Database Maintenance: We use the information about your dog(s) to create, update, and maintain an accurate and comprehensive pedigree database. This includes storing your dog's lineage, breed, date of birth, and other relevant details to track and verify its pedigree, and to help breeders, owners, and enthusiasts trace bloodlines, health history, and genetic traits.

Data retention

We retain your data for no longer than is strictly necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or as required by law. Your personal information related to account management will be retained for as long as you maintain an active Membership with us. Data regarding your dog(s) will be retained indefinitely for the purpose of maintaining the continuity and accuracy of the pedigree information. You have the right to cancel your Membership and request the deletion of your personal data at any time. If you choose to end your Membership we will delete your personal data related to account management unless we must keep it to comply with legal obligations, such as tax or audit requirements.

Sharing your data

We do not share your personal data with third parties, except for authorized partners or service providers who assist us in managing and maintaining the database or who provide essential services (e.g., hosting providers). We may also share your information with regulatory authorities or other third parties when required by law or in response to a legal request.
